Steve & Jackie write:

We are the third owner. Boat was professionally built for first owner (unknown) who sold the vessel after two years without doing any serious sailing. Richard and Betty McDonald bought her in 1984 and spent two years cruising the East Coast, Bermuda, and the Caribbean in 86-88. The boat then sat idle until we purchased her in 1997. We are currently in the middle of a complete refit and rebuild.

We have the sterncastle dinette model with the sterncastle design similar to the
Searunner 34. The centerboard trunk is copper lined for anti -fouling. She is fitted with a Volvo Saildrive so the engine is under the dinette table
.

We finished the paint job on the deck, cabin, and cockpit. I also redid the bottom with a new barrier coat and reglassed the minikeel.

The previous paint job actually caused a lot of problems. It had a dark accent stripe around the deck perimeter. It causes the joint at the deck edge to heat up and expand and crack the glass sheathing. I retaped every edge in the cockpit, cabin, and deck. Jim Brown mentions this in the Searunner Construction Manual.
